Ze new ArPen Trink

MMOChamp has been data mining away like they do best, and gear is starting to appear. The hot topic of the moment for hunters is the shiny new trinket.

Here are the stats:

Needle-Encrusted Scorpion
Binds when picked up
Unique
Trinket
Requires Level 80
Item Level 232
Equip: Improves critical strike rating by 114 (2.48% @ L80).
Equip: Chance on melee or ranged critical strike to increase your armor penetration rating by 452 for 10 sec.

Now at first glance, this is pretty awesome. A new crit plus ArPen proc trinket that we all love to have to update Mjolnir Runestone or Grim Toll.

But wait... chance on CRITICAL STRIKE? Ugh... And 452 is significantly less than 612 or 665, which means more ArPen gems.

In a nutshell, for 12 more crit, you can get... not much. Unless they lower the internal cooldown (which I doubt they will), this trinket is good if you never could get the Ulduar 10 Runestone or the Naxx25 Grim Toll to drop, and since it drops in H: Devourer of Souls (one of the new 5mans), you can farm this one to your content. I'm gonna continue to cradle my oh-so-expensive Runestone until some more info comes out.

Know what I would rather have though? A FUCKING REPLACEMENT FOR GREATNESS THAT IS A 100% DROP. *exhale* *exhale* *exhale*

Oh, and yes, I will be doing Raiding Hunter Loot in 3.3 once all the gear is announced. Patience!

Oh wow, I totally didn't see the "critical strike" part.

Despite the fact it's on crit chance, we're sitting on what, 60-65% crit chance fully buffed? This puppy should be proccing as soon as the ICD is done. I will be farming the shit out that five man because I lacked the foresight to keep my Grim Toll (got it way back in December of last year) and I will never get into a 10 man run that does Uld-10 at a normal time.

Speaking of Greatness, it's really fucking pathetic that we're still using an ilevel 200 trinket at the final tier of the expansion. It really speaks about the lack of any decent trinkets this expansion.

I count three exhales, but no inhales. You ok? :P

No luck on Deaths verdict? I'm simply amazed how lucky our guild is. (then agian we run 2 normal tocs and 1 TogC) but all melee's have either a heroic or normal or both..... But only 1 caster dps trinket(the one from anub). Keep praying to the RNG gods.

At least for me, it gets nicked by the jackasses who run our 10-mans (Rogue/Ret Paladin/SV Hunter) who get all their upgrades (including trophies) from the 10-man, which don't cost DKP. Then they have first pick at shit like Verdict as they never get any 25-man loot, since ToGC10 man loot is almost (or in some cases better than) as good as ToC25 gear.

Yes, I'm extremely bitter, but that's because I'm 7th in line for Normal Verdict/11th in line for Heroic.

That is exactly why you don't join a DKP guild.

Death's Choice has dropped once, count it, once for us, and it went to someone who deserved it, then went onto an emo-tyrade and quit the game. So there went that.

We don't do DKP, but in terms of DPS, there is a warrior, two ferals, and a ret pally in front of the hunters, methinks.

I think it's disgusting that a ret paladin who steals gear from other classes is in front of people on anything.

Any gear system is going to have corruption. Zero-sum/fixed price DKP is, IMO, the least prone to it - if our 10s cost DKP like they ought to IMO, there wouldn't be an issue, but *shrug*

Pretty sure I didn't go emo! I was just tired of playing a video game for 20 hours a week and having to put up with inept leadership and raiders. If anything, I'm much less emo now that I don't play, you should try it.

The on crit requirement really seems like a non issue with how much crit Hunters in current gear have.

It has a 10% chance on crit to proc, so unlike an on hit trinket, the probably is considerably lower. An 'on hit' chance would like this for procs chances with 60% crit:

Hit - Chance
CRIT - Chance
Hit - Chance
CRIT - Chance
CRIT - Chance
Hit - Chance
CRIT - Chance
CRIT - Chance
CRIT - Chance
Hit - Chance

Whereas an on crit looks like this:

Hit
CRIT - Chance
Hit
CRIT - Chance
CRIT - Chance
Hit
CRIT - Chance
CRIT - Chance
CRIT - Chance
Hit

You are essentially halving proc chances, and it is still RNG for proc actually happening.

@ Tucker

You quit in frustration and anger, I'd call that an emo-quit :P
And my end date for WoW is already set, and I'm quite eager for it.
